Improving Food Access for our Community

Our food shelves in Ramsey County are designed to support those who need food assistance and other help. Along with our Foodmobile, crisis support and additional food programs, we are working to strengthen our community by giving ample access to our neighbors in need.

Not only does Keystone aim to give families access to food and emergency services, but we provide healthy choices and supplemental food sources to keep families on the right track – empowering them to build self-sufficiency and healthy eating habits.

Access Food shelf Services

To be eligible for food shelf services, you must:

  • Establish a need, seeking emergency food services

What to Bring:

It is helpful if you bring a photo ID with you to use the food shelf as it helps with our program management and speeds up the paperwork process but it is NOT required for you to receive food shelf services.

Current Service Delivery

Due to the Coronavirus (Covid 19), we have changed to emergency services and are not able to offer full choices in the food shelf at this time. Every household will receive dry goods, produce and refrigerated/freezer items per your household size and diet preference (ie. vegetarian). Due to safety, we are also not able to provide a public restroom at this time.

Upon arrival to the food shelf, please form an orderly line outside for food shelf services. In line, please stand at least six feet apart. Only one household will be served at a time to allow greater social distancing. When the household ahead of you exits the food shelf lobby, you may enter the lobby. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we make our services as accessible and safe as possible for everyone.

Keystone Food Shelf Locations

You can go to any Keystone food shelf location that is convenient to you. No appointment is necessary. Food shelf participants are served on a first come, first served basis during the hours listed below.

Midway Food Shelf

Sending Someone to the Food Shelf in Your Place:

If you are unable to pick up food for yourself at the food shelves or on the Foodmobile, you may designate someone else to pick up for you. To do this, one option is to call in to one of our food shelves to give verbal permission. The other option, is to write a note that states the name of the individual picking up for you, with your name and signature. Please call our food shelves if you have any questions about this process.

New Partnership with Metro Mobility

During this COVID-19 pandemic, we are modifying our food shelf services to meet the changing needs in our communities.

Now offering a new delivery option

One of these modifications is to provide delivery of food shelf services to individuals and smaller households who cannot visit one of our food shelf sites. We have partnered with Metro Mobility to deliver these services.

How the program works:

  • Who is eligible? People who are not able to easily access our food shelves are eligible for the service. In the early stages we are limiting deliveries to Ramsey County only, though this may change in the future. Our drivers are carrying this so it is helpful if it is smaller household sizes (4 people or fewer) but we can work with you if your household is larger.
  • When are deliveries? Deliveries are scheduled on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons, with a delivery window between 2:00 and 4:00. For food safety, all deliveries will be made within one hour of departing our food shelf.
  • What food will I receive? Each food delivery package will include non-perishable items, produce, bakery items, and milk and meat if available. Participants will be offered their choice of a Meat, No Pork, or Vegetarian option.
  • How do appointments work? Appointments must be received by 10:00 on the day before the delivery and we will initially keep a limit of 10 households for each delivery date.
  • How do I sign up? People who are interested in scheduling a delivery should contact the Keystone Midway site at 651-917-3792. If people have not previously visited a Keystone food shelf, they will complete a food shelf intake by phone, then schedule an appointment for the next available delivery.
