Throughout our 85+ year history, Keystone has provided services to strengthen the capacity of individuals and families in our community to improve their quality of life.
Food insecurity remains a priority, with record numbers of participants visiting Keystone’s food shelf sites, Foodmobiles (mobile food shelves), and free farmer’s markets. Each month, Keystone spends more than $20,000 fill our food shelves and markets – approximately $1,500 every day the organization is open.
The need for food in our community grows by 25% each year, with many participants relying on a food shelf for the first time.
We are all one crisis away from needing to support to provide for ourselves and our families. As the hunger crisis in our community continues to intensify, we know it’s up to us to ensure our neighbors continue to have access to food and other critical resources. Because of the support from community, Keystone is able to serve as a safety net during times of need, providing immediate resources that often keep a family or individual from needed extended intervention services.
Keystone is committed to “driving food security forward” with our innovative expansion of food support services out into our communities:
Keystone’s Foodmobiles – our food shelves on wheels – bring food support directly to 28 community locations (and growing!) each month, including low-income senior apartment complexes, supportive housing for people with disabilities, primary care clinics, colleges, and low-income neighborhoods that don’t have easy access to a food shelf or transit.
Food shelf home delivery program, bringing fresh produce, meat and dairy items, pantry staples, and household items to 125 older adults and people with disabilities each month.
