“As a tutor, I have seen kids make incredible growth in our program”, says Juliana, age 20 who has been a Keystone Teen Tutor for three years.
“There have been kids who come in barely able to sound out words but by the end of the year they can read on their own — sounding out each word beautifully, reading complete sentences, and understanding the story. I remember one special note I got from one of my students; the note said: ‘Thanks for being my tutor and helping me with my homework.’ It was the simplest of notes but it spoke volumes to me. And it reminds me how lucky I am to witness the victories of our young students. As a result of being a Teen Tutor, I know I want to work with students forever.” Juliana is currently majoring in Education at Metropolitan State University.
