SNAP is a program that helps low-income people get the food they need. Individuals and families can qualify, based on their income and household size. You can receive SNAP and also use Keystone’s food programs. Keystone staff can tell you if you qualify and help you apply for SNAP!

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, is a federal program that provides nutrition benefits to low-income individuals and families that are used at stores to purchase food. Learn more about SNAP from answers to these frequently asked questions.

  • Am I Eligible for SNAP?

    SNAP Eligibility is based on household size and income as displayed below:

  • I am not a U.S. Citizen; can I still receive SNAP benefits?

  • How do I apply for SNAP?

    Once you are eligible for SNAP you can apply online through the MNbenefits online portal. You can also download a Combined Application Form to complete and send it to your county or Tribal Nation.

  • How do I use my SNAP benefits?

    Once approved, you will receive a EBT Card in the mail. This card is funded every month with your benefit amount. Funds in your EBT card can roll-over a maximum of 9 months. You can use this card in grocery stores, megastores, local farmer’s markets. Some retailers also allow for EBT to be used for online orders.

  • I have applied for SNAP and I haven't received any information from the county or financial worker, what should I do?

    SNAP applications are taking around 4-6 weeks to process. Once you have applied, be on the lookout for mail from your county. Your county may request additional information such as a brief interview via phone call and/or documents before your application is approved.
